SparkFun Triband GNSS RTK Breakout - mosaic-X5

The SparkFun Triband GNSS RTK Breakout features the Septentrio mosaic-X5 for centimetre-level L1/L2/L5 accuracy, anti-jamming technology, and a web-based interface for easy configuration without coding.

Description

The GNSS landscape is evolving, and the SparkFun Triband GNSS RTK Breakout is leading the charge. This board provides the simplest way to access the L1, L2, and L5 bands simultaneously. At its heart is Septentrio's flagship mosaic-X5 module, an ultra-low-power, multi-constellation receiver that delivers industrial-grade reliability and centimetre-level precision to your project.

This GNSS RTK Breakout is a comprehensive navigation solution capable of supporting GPS (USA), GLONASS (Russia), BeiDou (China), Galileo (Europe), and NavIC (India), as well as regional systems such as SBAS and QZSS.

Unmatched Precision and Speed

With Real-Time Kinematics (RTK), the mosaic-X5 operates as either a base station or a rover, delivering:

  • Horizontal Accuracy: 6mm (~0.25in)
  • Vertical Accuracy: 1cm (~0.4in)
  • Timing Precision: 5ns (5 billionths of a second)
  • Update Rate: Up to 100Hz, making it perfect for high-speed automotive and industrial robotics

Reliable AIM+ Technology

The mosaic-X5 features Septentrio's unique AIM+ technology. This advanced interference mitigation and anti-spoofing system ensures your device maintains a lock even in challenging RF environments where other receivers fail. It is the gold standard for reliability.

No Coding Required with Web UI & One-Button Logging

Gone are the days of needing a microcontroller to parse NMEA sentences or writing complex code to log data.

  • Internal Web Server: The mosaic-X5 hosts its own web interface. All you need to do is connect it to your computer via USB, open a browser, and you have full control to configure settings, analyse signal strength, and view positioning data.
  • Standalone Logging: The board features an onboard SD card slot. With a single button press, you can start and stop data logging directly to the card.
  • Mass Storage Mode: That same button can mount the SD card to your computer as a USB drive, allowing you to drag-and-drop your log files without needing an external card reader.

Developer Friendly

While you can use it without code, we haven't forgotten the developers. We've broken out the majority of the module's pins, including a 3.3V logic-level PPS output, making this the perfect middle ground between a heavy developer kit and a bare module. It supports a command-line interface (CLI) for automated testing and is compatible with RTK correction data from various 3rd-party services. Please check out the features tab and our Hookup Guide for more details on this board's capabilities (that we couldn't fit in this product description).

Note: With the multi-band capabilities of the mosaic-X5 module, we highly recommend pairing it with a suitable GNSS antenna that supports all the GNSS frequency bands the module is compatible with. We recommend the GNSS Multi-Band L1/L2/L5 Surveying Antenna - TNC (SPK6618H) from our catalogue.
