Description

Unlock nanosecond-level timing precision with the SparkFun Timing GNSS Breakout, built around the Septentrio mosaic-T module. This board is engineered for demanding applications requiring high-accuracy time stamping, frequency synchronisation, and GPS-disciplined oscillators (GPSDO).

At its heart, the mosaic-T is a multi-band, multi-constellation GNSS receiver that delivers impressive performance while maintaining ultra-low power consumption. The mosaic-T features Septentrio’s renowned AIM+ technology for advanced interference mitigation and anti-spoofing, ensuring the highest level of data integrity and reliability.

Uncompromising Performance and Reliability

  • Extreme Timing Accuracy: Achieve timing precision down to 5ns out of the box, with the potential for sub-nanosecond (<1ns) accuracy using the optional Fugro AtomiChron® L-band service. Event accuracy is better than 20ns.

  • Disciplined Oscillator Ready: This breakout is designed for creating your own GPSDO. Easily access the RxClkBias data and utilise the external 10MHz reference clock input (EXT REF) to discipline a local oscillator for unparalleled stability. The input accepts a 50 Ω, 10 MHz signal from 14 dBm to +14 dBm.

  • Robust Signal Integrity: Septentrio’s advanced AIM+ technology actively mitigates interference and thwarts spoofing attempts, guaranteeing the integrity of your timing data in challenging RF environments.

Powerful Features, Simplified Operation

  • Intuitive Web Interface: The mosaic-T hosts its own web server, accessible via the USB-C connection. Configure the receiver, monitor performance, and analyse data through a standard web browser—no special software required.

  • Code-Free Data Logging: We've eliminated the need for a separate microcontroller for data logging. A single onboard button controls everything: start/stop logging to a microSD card, and safely unmount the card. Once unmounted, the breakout appears as a USB mass storage device, allowing you to drag and drop your log files directly to your computer.

  • Full CLI Control: For power users and automated testing environments, the mosaic-T offers a complete Command-Line Interface (CLI) over USB, providing granular control over every aspect of the receiver.

The SparkFun Timing GNSS Breakout strikes the perfect balance by providing access to a wide array of the mosaic-T's pins, similar to a full developer kit, but in a compact form factor. Whether you're integrating it into a custom enclosure or just need a reliable, 3.3V logic-level PPS output, this board is the ideal solution.
