SparkFun Rotary Encoder Breakout - Illuminated (RG/RGB)

Getting an illuminated rotary encoder to play nicely with a standard breadboard can be a massive headache. The pins never quite line up, leaving you fighting with bent wires just to test your interface. This clever breakout board solves the problem by providing a perfectly spaced footprint for your encoder. The SparkFun Rotary Encoder Breakout is a double-sided PCB that converts complex encoder pinouts into standard 0.1-inch headers for easy breadboarding.

Double-Sided Design

While this board was designed to support the RGB illuminated rotary encoder, we used to carry an R/G (Red/Green) version that also works with this breakout.

• RGB Support: One side features a footprint specifically routed for the RGB encoder and gives you access to all three colour channels.
• R/G Support: Flip the board over, and you'll find a footprint for the two-colour Red/Green version.
• Breadboard Friendly: All pins are broken out to standard 0.1-inch headers so you can plug your assembled encoder directly into a breadboard or perfboard.

All you need to do is just solder your chosen encoder to the matching side of the board, add some header pins, and you are ready to add colourful, tactile input to your next build!
