SparkFun RGB LED Breakout - WS2812B

The WS2812 (often referred to as a "NeoPixel") has become the standard for addressable LED projects. This RGB LED Breakout board is the absolute easiest way to start using one, whether you're prototyping on a breadboard or just need a single, brilliant indicator.

This board features the WS2812B variant, the popular 4-pin component (Vcc, GND, Data In, Data Out) that improved upon older 6-pin models. This all-in-one component integrates a full-colour LED and a controller chip into a single package.

16.8 Million Colors, One Board

The magic of the WS2812B is its one-wire serial control. The integrated chip allows you to set the brightness for each of the red, green, and blue channels to one of 256 different levels (8-bit colour depth). This results in 16,777,216 (256³) possible colour combinations, allowing you to create stunning, dynamic, and complex lighting effects. Simply solder on some headers to add some light to your next project.

Designed for Easy Prototyping

We designed this breakout to be as simple as possible to get started.

• Breadboard-Friendly: The 0.1" pin spacing is designed to plug directly into a standard breadboard or protoboard.
• Single-Wire Control: Requires only one digital pin from your microcontroller (like an Arduino, RP2350, or ESP32) to control the LED.
• Daisy-Chainable: The board includes both "DIN" (Data In) and "DOUT" (Data Out) pins. This allows you to easily connect multiple breakout boards to create custom-length strips, arrays, or displays.

This breakout is the perfect, low-cost way to add a single, fully-addressable RGB LED to your project without the hassle of surface-mount soldering.
