Description

While most microcontrollers only simulate an analogue voltage using Pulse Width Modulation, this breakout board allows your digital source to generate a true analogue signal. The SparkFun MCP4725 DAC Breakout provides accurate, 12-bit analogue voltage output via I2C and features onboard EEPROM to store settings even after power loss. This makes it an excellent choice for sound generation, custom musical instruments, and a wide variety of creative electronics projects where standard digital signals fall short.

Designed for Usability

This version of the MCP4725 Breakout includes several hardware adjustments that optimise the board dimensions, I2C pinout, and IC footprint to better suit your custom enclosures and breadboards.

  • Complete Access: All pins are broken out to 0.1-inch pitch headers, providing convenient connectivity options for prototyping and experimentation. This gives you easy access to VCC, SCL, SDA, multiple GND pins, and the Signal OUT pin.
  • Easy Probing: The dedicated Signal OUT and GND pins are grouped together, making it simple to connect an oscilloscope or other testing equipment directly to the board.
  • Multiple Devices: If you plan to run multiple DACs on the same I2C bus, the onboard pull-up resistors can be easily disabled by cutting the traces on the jumper pad on the back of the board.

Whether you are building a custom synthesizer or replacing a PWM signal with a smooth sine wave, this breakout board provides a straightforward and highly capable solution for converting your digital code into physical analogue outputs.
