SparkFun Triad Spectroscopy Sensor - AS7265x (Qwiic)

The pocket-sized SparkFun Triad Spectroscopy Sensor combines three sensors to measure 18 distinct light channels (UV to IR) for material analysis and optical inspection.

Description

This isn't a standard Qwiic sensor! The SparkFun Triad Spectroscopy Sensor is a pocket-sized optical inspection device. By combining three powerful AS7265x spectral sensors into a single, easy-to-use Qwiic board, we've created a compact spectrophotometer that puts the power of light analysis right on your desktop! Whether you're analysing plant health, identifying materials, or measuring light sources, the Triad can detect the light from 410nm (UV) to 940nm (IR).

Desktop Science, Simplified

Traditionally, spectroscopy required expensive, bulky equipment. The Triad changes the game by measuring 18 individual light frequencies.

  • The "Triad" Architecture: It uses three specialised sensors, the AS72651 (UV), AS72652 (Visible), and AS72653 (NIR), each working together to capture a complete spectral fingerprint of your target.
  • Built-in Illumination: For accurate readings, you need adequate light. We've integrated dedicated UV, White, and IR LEDs right onto the board to ensure your target is perfectly illuminated for accurate spectral reflection data.
  • Precision Data: Capable of measuring light precision down to 28.6 nW/cm² with ±12% accuracy, giving you meaningful data for real-world applications.

Plug-and-Play Spectroscopy

We believe science should be accessible, not frustrating. Thanks to our Qwiic Connect System, you can plug the Triad into your microcontroller without soldering any pins.

  • Flexible Control: Communicate via standard I2C* or use the 115200bps serial interface with a simple AT command set.
  • Ready-to-Use Library: We’ve developed a comprehensive Arduino library that handles everything from raw data acquisition to controlling onboard LEDs, so you can focus on your data, not your code.

Uncover the hidden details of your world with the power of the Triad. This is the only Qwiic-enabled board that gives you a full 18-channel spectral breakdown in a form factor small enough to fit in your pocket.

*The I2C address of the AS7265x is 0x49 and is hardware defined. A multiplexer (Mux) is required to communicate with multiple AS7265x sensors over a single bus. If you need to use multiple AS7265x sensors, consider the Qwiic Mux Breakout.
