The AT407 is a simple device with a little rolling ball inside. When the sensor is turned over the ball will touch two pins causing a circuit to be formed. With a 50000+ cycle rating it will reliably detect when a device has been turned over. Much simpler to use than a gyroscope when all you need to know is if something has been turned or not.
