Description

Track environmental conditions with impressive precision using the SparkFun Air Quality PM1/PM2.5/PM10 Sensor. At its core is the Bosch BMV080, an incredibly small particulate matter sensor measuring a mere 4.4 × 3.0 × 3.0 mm³, making it over 450 times smaller than comparable devices on the market. By using a fanless design with ultra-compact lasers and integrated photodiodes, this sensor employs sophisticated algorithms to measure particulate concentrations directly in free space.

This method allows you to capture real-time, actionable data for PM1, PM2.5, and PM10 without the bulk, noise, or mechanical wear of a traditional fan-driven sensor.

Component-Ready Breakout

We've integrated this micro-sensor onto a flexible breakout board housed neatly inside a protective enclosure. A specialised lens allows the laser to pass cleanly for measurements while shielding the internal components. Designed to fit easily into space-constrained setups, the board streamlines your prototyping process while offering multiple configuration options.

  • Solderless Qwiic Connection: Plug directly into the SparkFun Qwiic ecosystem via the onboard connector for immediate I2C communication, no soldering required.
  • Breadboard Friendly: Features standard 0.1-inch spaced breakout pins for users who prefer a traditional soldered connection or breadboard prototyping.
  • Configurable Communication: Operates over I2C by default, but can be quickly reconfigured via an onboard jumper to communicate over SPI.
  • Address Expansion: Includes jumper-selectable options for four distinct I2C addresses (0x54, 0x55, 0x56, and 0x57 default), allowing you to chain multiple sensors on a single bus.
