USB-C is the modern standard for connectivity, offering reversible plugging and higher power capabilities. However, the connector's 24 tiny, tightly spaced pins are notoriously difficult to solder by hand or use in a prototype. This breakout board solves that headache by routing the essential pins out to a standard 0.1" (2.54mm) pitch.
One of the trickiest parts of using USB-C for power is the Configuration Channel (CC). Unlike older USB standards, USB-C sources often won't supply power until they detect a device is attached. However, this board features on-board CC pull-down resistors (5.1kΩ). This sets the board as a "power sinking" device, ensuring that when you plug it into a USB-C wall charger or laptop, it immediately requests 5V.
To support higher current applications, the board features duplicate VBUS and GND pins. The breakdown includes:
Also included is a 1x10 straight male header that you can solder to the board, making it compatible with standard solderless breadboards and perfboards.
