Choices span compact micro‑sized sensors to larger breakout boards, with serial interfaces, I2C or SPI connections, and support for firmware or software fusion algorithms. Performance attributes include measurement quality, data rate handling, and noise and drift characteristics. Some designs offer data buffers, interrupt outputs, or onboard processing to reduce host load.
Ease of integration comes from clear pinouts, compatible footprints, and available software libraries and examples. The right IMU balances footprint, power consumption, connection style, and resilience to vibration and temperature changes for reliable sensing in real‑world robotics and automation tasks.
