Step-up regulators raise a low-voltage source to a stable higher rail, useful when powering sensors, radio modules, servos, motors or peripheral electronics from single-cell batteries or other low-voltage supplies. They suit portable projects, remote sensors, and anything needing a reliable higher voltage without bulky batteries.
Available with fixed output voltages across a broad range and with widely different current capability, models vary from sub-amp to multi-amp input current capacity. Minimum input and startup voltages differ between designs, and continuous output is limited by thermal dissipation.
