SparkFun Qwiic Alphanumeric Display - Green

Display letters, numbers, and symbols easily with this green 14-segment alphanumeric display featuring solderless Qwiic integration.

Description

While standard seven-segment displays are great for alarm clocks and microwaves, they severely limit your ability to display anything other than numbers. The SparkFun Qwiic Alphanumeric Display solves this by using green fourteen-segment digits so you can clearly display letters and symbols on top of the numbers you would expect. The display provides a bright and readable text interface for your hardware without the complexity or power draw of a full OLED or LCD screen.

Seven-Segment Integration and Control

You can add this display to your project instantly by utilising the Qwiic Connect System! There is no soldering required, no need to figure out SDA and SCL lines, and no voltage translation necessary.

Once connected, the onboard VK16K33 LED driver and our dedicated Arduino library handle the heavy lifting:

  • Simple Coding: Printing text to the screen is as easy as calling a standard print() function.
  • Dynamic Displays: Easily scroll long strings of text across the display, or individually control specific segments, decimal points, and colons.
  • Brightness Control: A built-in 16-step dimming circuit allows you to adjust the display intensity to perfectly match your environment.
  • Expandable I2C: Solder jumpers on the back of the board let you configure the I2C address (0x70 to 0x73) to daisy-chain up to four displays on a single bus.

Designed for Clean Installations

The physical board is engineered to fit into custom enclosures with ease. The slim profile features vertical Qwiic connectors, keeping your wiring hidden behind the display. Additionally, it includes standard wall-mounting points and internal mounting holes, along with detachable standoffs that can be cleanly snapped off if you need to squeeze the board into a tight space.
