Because the SparkFun Qwiic OLED Display uses OLED technology, there is no bulky backlight layer. Giving you a significantly thinner profile, exceptionally high contrast (blue on a deep black background), and a fraction of the power consumption compared to traditional LCDs.
The Qwiic OLED Display's firmware uses intelligent update techniques (similar to "Dirty Rectangles" or "Bit blit" computer graphics operations) to refresh only the pixels that have changed. This drastically reduces the data sent over the I2C line and keeps your main processor free to handle other critical tasks.
This V1.1 revision introduces physical updates designed specifically to make enclosure mounting hassle-free.
