Description

If you are looking for a high quality but cheaper Arduino Uno R3 alternative then this is the one. Built to a high standard by SparkFun it just works well at a lower price. Unlike some Uno compatible boards this one is made really professionally with clear PCB pin markings and no odd looking soldering.

The USB connection is a USB Mini B so it won't hit shields like the standard B on the Uno can do. Internally a FTDI chip is used for the USB communications because of the stability it provides.

The UNO's Optiboot bootloader is already loaded for quick development. Just select 'Arduino Uno' as the board in the Arduino Software to program.

Like the Uno R3, the Redboard has a bunch of nice features including 14 Digital I/O pins with 6 PWM pins, 6 Analog Inputs, UART, SPI and external interrupts. The SDA, SCL and IOREF pins are also there for compatibility with R3 shields.

Power can be provided via USB or the DC barrel jack at 7-15V like an Uno.
