Measuring the current used by a device like an electric motor or the drain on a battery can provide information about the load the device is under. Has the motor stalled or wheels lost grip? Is the battery being drained to fast or the power supply being overloaded?
Knowing what current is being used in a circuit can help prevent overloading, overheating and failure of more expensive components.
