Accelerometers measure linear acceleration and detect tilt, vibration, impact and motion for projects like balancing robots, activity tracking, collision logging and vibration analysis. They provide orientation and movement data that pairs with gyroscopes and magnetometers for more complete inertial sensing.
Products differ by axis count, measurement range from low‑g to high‑g, resolution, power draw and output type. Analogue outputs and digital interfaces such as I2C or SPI are common. Some modules add embedded features like tap detection, FIFO buffers and interrupt pins.
