Featuring a 1/2" (12.3mm) metal ball this ball caster kit comes complete with mounting screws and spacers to change the final height of the caster. The caster provides a good 'third point' for a differential drive robot.

Overview

A ball caster is a great way to provide stability to a small robot with a differential drive. The ball does not have any directional bias that would cause the robot to go in unexpected directions unlike a traditional pivoting wheel caster which are better suited to bigger heavier robots (and shopping trolleys).

The kit comes with:Pololu 1/2" metal ball caster kit

  • Strong black ABS plastic housing
  • 1/2" (12.3mm) metal ball
  • 2 spacers with thicknesses of 1/16" and 1/8",  (1.6mm and 3.2mm)
  • 2 nuts and bolts to mount the caster to a chassis

 

The total height of the caster is 0.53" (13.5mm) with no spacers. Spacers can then be added to increase the height to a total of 18.6mm.
