The A1-16 smart servo from XYZrobot is specifically designed for applications that require a lot of strong and complex actuation, such as humanoid robots, hexapod robots, and robotic arms. These are the same servos that are used in the Bolide Y-01 Advanced Humanoid Robot, also from XYZrobot. Unlike common RC hobby servos, these servos are capable of 360° continuous rotation while still offering position control over an effective range of 330°. They feature a TTL serial interface that is used to configure and control the servo and get feedback about position, speed, and temperature. Multiple servos can be daisy-chained on the same serial bus. Each servo also features a four-colour LED on the bottom that provides status feedback, making it possible to quickly determine if one or all servos in the chain are experiencing a problem.
Note: These are not RC servos and do not use the same protocol, so they will not work with standard RC receivers and servo controllers.
The A1-16 smart servo ships with a variety of general-purpose mounting hardware and two 12 cm smart servo cables. Longer and shorter cables are available separately:
