SparkFun Simon Says - Through-Hole Soldering Kit

This updated version of our popular Simon Says Kit has been specifically designed to make learning how to solder easy and approachable. We optimised the board layout to be as beginner-friendly as possible, focusing entirely on standard through-hole components. As you build the kit, you will get hands-on experience soldering a 28-pin microprocessor, standard LEDs, battery clips, and switch components.

From Handheld Game to Development Platform

This soldering kit will provide you with a greater knowledge of through-hole soldering and the tools, techniques, and terminology required to populate your own PCB prototype. After you have successfully assembled the kit, you'll walk away with much more than just a fun Simon Says memory game; you'll also have your very own development platform that features:

• Inputs: Five buttons for user control.
• Outputs: Five output channels driving the LEDs and the buzzer.
• Communication: A serial connection for easy debugging.

What to Expect During Assembly

For a true beginner with zero prior experience, we estimate the assembly will take between 20 and 40 minutes. We provide highly detailed, step-by-step instructions to guide you through the entire process, and we even include the AA batteries you need to power it up.
