Medium-density reflectance arrays pair IR emitters with phototransistors at modest spacing for reliable line sensing, edge detection, surface contrast measurement and short-range proximity tasks. Multi-channel strips let systems compute a line centroid or scan across a surface while single-channel modules suit spot checks or distributed sensing.
Analogue outputs provide graduated reflectance values for precise position and calibration. RC-style digital outputs give simple thresholded signals with timing-based reading. Variants include long-range and low-current options, and differences in pitch, board size and LED drive affect footprint, detection distance, power draw and integration effort. These modules are compact, easy to mount and interface directly with common microcontrollers.
