Overview

At such a low price these 143:1 gear motors are a great alternative to continous rotation servos or Tamiya gearboxes.

The GM8 is basically a faster version of the  GM2. If you need more speed then the GM8 is to way.

The motor draws a low free-running current of 58mA @ 5V making them ideal for our Qik 2s9v1 Dual Serial Motor Controller. The small size and weight make them an ideal choice for small robots especially when combined with the GMPW plastic wheels with silicone tyres that are designed to fit this gear motor.

At 5 V, the gearbox and motor provide 43 oz-in of torque and 70 RPM, which is faster than a servo. The free-running current is 58 mA, and the stall current is 670 mA. A built-in safety clutch is also included.

This gearmotor comes pre-assembled, with the gears fully enclosed. There are built-in mounting holes, and the output shaft is 7mm in diameter with two sides flattened. We also have the Solarbotics GMB28 mounting bracket to suit this motor that enables different mounting options.

Please note that the output shaft is slightly shorter than on the GM2 and GM3 gearmotors. Also, the green end of the output shaft should not be used (it is difficult to get to, anyway).
