Environmental Sensors

Environmental sensors measure physical properties of the surrounding atmosphere, enabling projects to interact with and respond to real-world conditions. These components detect variables like temperature, humidity, air pressure, wind speed, magnetic fields, and the presence of gases or smoke. They are commonly used in weather stations, indoor climate monitoring, safety systems, and automated environmental controls.

Key attributes include measurement range, accuracy, output type, such as digital, analogue, or serial interfaces, and physical robustness for different operating environments. Many sensors feature standardised connectors or breakout boards to simplify wiring and integration with microcontrollers. This makes them suitable for both rapid prototyping and more permanent installations where reliable, continuous sensing is required.
